Welcome to Episode 9, where some white people talk about racism! We’re sorry in advance but we’re doing our best. Unenthusiastic yay.

Abigail-called-Abish relays this week’s drink to us complete with the tragic backstory:

Next Moroni heroically manages to remember who we are and what we’re doing just in time to share this week’s scriptures. Lehi rambles on some more about righteousness or whatever, after which he waxes old and waxes off this mortal coil. The fam splits up into Nephites and Lamanites, the latter receiving a curse that has NOTHING to do with their skin color, despite the curse being specifically a “skin of blackness” that makes them loathsome to the “white and delightsome” Nephites, but don’t worry, it’s not racist if it’s a metaphor!

AaaAAAaa teaches a lesson straight out of the Seminary handbook to a couple of the world’s more drunken and unruly students.

Finally, Abigail takes over with some historical context of the Church’s past-but-not-THAT-past positions on people of color, slavery, and racism. Spoiler alert, it’s not very PC. Turns out Joseph Smith might not have been the loving, progressive, inclusive dude we’ve been taught about!
